Bio
I was born in
Syracuse, N.Y. and attended public school there.
I graduated from
Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts with a degree in
Chemistry.
I attended the
State University of New York Upstate Medical University at
Syracuse. I graduated with the Doctor of Medicine degree- CUM
LAUDE. I graduated first in my class.
I was an intern
at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA and my
internship was followed by a residency in Obstetrics and
Gynecology, also at the Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Following my
residency, I completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology
and Infertility.
I then served 2
years with the United States Navy and was head of the Infertility
Section at the Naval Hospital, Boston, MA, where I also served as
the Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Following my
discharge from the Navy, I was in a group private practice for
several years in Northeast Philadelphia. I did general Obstetrics
and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and
Infertility.
After I left the
group, I have been in solo practice. My practice is devoted
mainly to Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, Endometriosis,
Pelvic Pain, Menopausal disorders, and Complicated Gynecology. I
also provide routine GYN care for those women who wish to come to
me for that reason.
I have been
involved in many research projects over the years and for a long
time, my principal area of interest was androgen disorders in
women. I have published numerous papers in the medical literature
concerning androgen disorders that relate to the disease we would
now call Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome.
In conjunction
with my research, I presented a paper on androgen disorders in
women at the annual meeting of the American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I was awarded first prize for
the best scientific paper at that meeting.
I am a Fellow of
the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a
Member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (formerly
the American Fertility Society). I am a Charter Member of the
Society of Reproductive Surgeons. I am a member of the American
Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and a Fellow of the
American College of Endocrinology.
In 1984, I was
elected a Charter Member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons.
This is a special organization created within the American Society
for Reproductive Medicine. Its membership is restricted to those
infertility specialists in the United States and abroad who have
demonstrated that they possess the necessary qualifications and
skills to be considered specialists in the field of reconstructive
pelvic surgery. At the current time, there are only approximately
1200 members throughout the United States, Canada and the rest of
the world.
In 1989, the
Endometriosis Association based in Milwaukee asked me to become
one of it’s National Advisors.
I am a member of
the International Pelvic Pain Society. I am the only
Gynecologist in the Philadelphia area who is a member.
In 1996, I was
certified by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy
as having fulfilled the requirements of the Council and
demonstrating that I possess special skills in advanced operative
laparoscopy and advanced operative hysteroscopy.
In 1997, I was
elected a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinologists.
In 2006, I opened
the Breyer MedSpa having recognized that for women who suffer the
problems created by too much male hormone production, hormonal
therapy alone will not completely alleviate the cosmetic issues
and other therapies such as laser hair removal is necessary.
